This will make your body larger and heavier than it needs to be and will expose you to nasty health risks that accumulate the longer this situation continues. So the number one thing you can do to lose weight is to get your proper exercise program in place.
This program will contain mostly strength training exercise which you will need to do 2-3 times each week. It is so effective that you will not need to do much of it but what you do will need to be performed at the right level of intensity (degree of effort used) or results will be disappointing. Spend a few dollars and get a fitness professional to set up your program and monitor your progress. The program will need to be changed every few weeks to keep the results coming.
2) Your eating - The second most important thing you can do is to eat properly to support your exercise program. You need to do this so you can put some effort into it and make the necessary changes to your metabolism (your body's engine) to increase your fat burning rate. So, you need to eat 5-7 small meals each day each containing a source of protein. Choose the protein first for each meal then the balance of the meal can be vegetables or brown rice or another complex carbohydrate.
You will need to ditch as much of the processed foods from your diet as possible as while you continue to eat them the chemicals and additives will play havoc with your hunger hormones. This will blur when you are really hungry or are simply suffering from hormonal hunger which can cause you to overeat. Natural whole foods are preferable as much as possible. Just start by getting rid of the most obvious empty foods and replace with better choices.
Losing weight is simple if you do the right things. These two changes will make it happen for you and you need to keep doing them for the rest of your life. But do not worry as before long they will fit into your life so well that it will be 'who you are' not something 'you do'. When you have arrived at this point the excess weight and body fat will be long gone.
