Tips For Planning An Ornate Garden Wedding

First of all, congratulations are in order! As you get ready to walk down the aisle

and consider what your wedding will comprise, consider an ornate garden wedding. Garden weddings are becoming more and more popular, and are particularly adored by fans of fairy tales and romantic movies. Come summertime, why not trade the beach for the beauty of lush greenery? Here are some tips for planning the perfect garden wedding.

1. Make Sure Your Guests Will Be Comfortable

Guests might find the idea of an outdoor wedding romantic, but lets face it; they dont want to be standing in your garden for an hour. Chairs are a must, and a tent is a great idea, so that the elements dont get in the way of having your perfect day. If youre planning to host your outdoor garden wedding in the fall or winter, consider investing in space heaters, or, at the very least, providing lap blankets or coats for your guests. If youre planning to host your ornate garden wedding in the summer, remember that your guests are sure to get toasty. Have bottles of water on hand, or at least, some form of chilled drinks. Champagne is always appreciated! If youre going to be in the hot sun for an extended period of time, consider either providing your guests with or advising them to bring along sunscreen. In this situation, a tent or umbrellas will come in very handy. You could also consider renting large electric fans to keep the air circulating.

2. Plan for the Elements

Mother Nature isnt a romantic so be prepared for earth, wind and fire and by that, we mean rain and wind. The ideal ornate garden wedding will come complete with a backup plan. If it rains, where will you go? Its smart to have an indoor location secured ahead of time in case a downpour strikes. You can also consider the aforementioned tent, but that only works with light rain and light wind. Remember that a heavy rain will turn your garden into mud, and that wont be pleasant for your guests nor their shoes. Many outdoor weddings fall prey to windy conditions, so be sure to avoid fabrics in your dress and your bridesmaids dresses that might cause a wardrobe malfunction should the wind pick up. The same goes for your hairstyle dont do anything that could easily come apart in the wind. Let your hairstylist know that youre having an outdoor wedding.

3. Make Sure People Can Hear Over the Elements

The aforementioned natural elements could also put a dent in your gorgeous wedding vows, if youre not prepared to battle with the wind, waves, trees, etc. Garden weddings are romantic and beautiful, but theyre not so great if no one can hear what youre saying to one another. If youre considering having your wedding at a local park or garden, remember that there will potentially be cars driving by, children running around the elements extend far beyond what Mother Nature can conjure up. Consider renting a sound system and microphones, especially if youre going to have a lot of people attending your wedding.

4. Decorations

One of best things about a garden wedding is that Mother Nature does a good deal of the decorating for you. Let the natural elements of the outdoors speak for themselves. Come nighttime, consider stringing Christmas lights, or even better, paper lanterns, along the flora and fauna to add that extra sense of romance to your evening. In addition, make sure to visit the site of your wedding prior to the big day to ensure that the grass has been mown, the chairs laid out, the lights strung you dont want to get there the morning of and find that theres still much to be done!

5. Wine and Dine

Consider allowing the outdoor nature of your wedding to influence your wine and food menu. Champagne drinks, such as mimosas, are perfect for outdoor events, as are hors douvres. Try and avoid dishes that only taste good when theyre served cold, because even if the sun isnt shining directly on your catering table, the air is sure to warm whats out there. Realize that sweets, and fruits, especially, will attract insects, so consider staying away from these items. When it comes to cocktails, anything light and refreshing will do, and of course, make sure you have non-alcoholic options on hand, such as water, seltzer and lemonade. Ice is a must have! Other perfect summer drinks include mojitos, mint juleps, white wine, beer, any kind of champagne cocktail, daiquiris, etc.

Once youve considered all the factors above, ensure that you have something borrowed and something blue, and youre good to go! Enjoy your wedding day, because hopefully, it only comes once in your life!
