This is a really tough thing to think about when dating an ex of a friend may not be a really good idea. But there may be a few times that you throw caution to the wind and date them anyway. So when should you really take that leap and date an ex of your friend
Well first off you have to think of the feelings that you have for that person. If you feel that you may actually love them then it may be worth talking to your friend and seeing what she would feel like. Or in the case of an ex-girlfriend what that guy who dated her before would feel like.
Sometimes you may be offering an odd experience or setting up many awkward positions for you to be in if you do date an ex of a friend though. For that reason when you begin dating that person you may want to try and avoid the friend theyve dated before. At least until you know that your friend is okay with you dating their ex, then you may be able to hang out a bit more with them.
Also consider how they broke up when you think of dating an ex of a friend. If it was a horrible break-up the chances are that the two of them will have a very hard time being nice to each other. So it will again create situations where you would need to avoid your friend any time that you are out on a date.
But if they ended the relationship in a nice way the chances are good that you can actually make a relationship work even though they are an ex of your friend. Of course still you dont want to push it with that friend and bring their ex over to see them when they invite you over, at least not at first.
Chances are slim that very many exs are really able to remain civil to each other after a break-up. Something will normally come up and their friendship will be strained. That something shouldnt be you so in many cases avoiding the immediate dating of an ex is highly suggested.
If you find that you really do have feelings for that person wait at least a few months and then maybe hook up with them. But as always it will be a good idea to run it past your friend that you are thinking of dating their ex.
