Things To Consider When Buying High Heels

A common misconception held by many people is that women love high-heels

. While it is true that most women love the appearance of high heels, the way they improve a womans silhouette, for instance. It is not true to say that all women love wearing heels. Indeed, a certain proportion of women are afraid of wearing high heels, particularly stiletto heels, and the reasons for this are clear.

People who cannot walk in their heels tend to look a little ridiculous, also, heels can seem dangerous, and many a broken ankle has come from wearing a high heel. However, these fears, whether genuine or otherwise, do not need to translate into fact, there are ways of overcoming them. Here we offer advice on choosing the perfect heels, in the hope that you too can benefit from the wonderful transformative properties of the high heel.

Heel Width

Fashion mistakes are common with heels because people choose widths that do not suit them. In general, slim people look best with slim heels, larger people look better in wider heels. Also, tight-fitting clothes tend to look better with a slimmer heel, whereas baggy clothes look better with wider heels. So, if you are worried about which style of heel you suit, consider your build and the style of clothes that you wear.

Colour

People fear making mistakes with colour, perhaps they are unsure, which colours match, or how to contrast shoe colour, with clothing colour.

There is a simple rule of thumb: always wear shoes in a darker shade to your trousers, and if in doubt, stick with black it matches all other colours.

Size

Size is very important here, the wrong fit definitely increases your chances of not being able to walk in your heels. If you are unsure of your size, get them measured free at a shoe store; wearing the wrong size shoes, as well as looking silly, can cause untold problems, including bunions and backache.

Height

A great way of testing if your heels are too high for you is to stand up straight in your heels. Then stand on your tiptoes, do not lift the shoe with the back of your heel. If you when standing on your tiptoes with the heel still planted on the floor, you have an inch or more space between the flat of the shoe at the heel, and the flat of your heel, then they are fine. If there is little space, they are too large.

Practice, Practice, Practice

If you have purchased a pair of stiletto heels of a height that suits your frame, but you have never worn heels that high before, then you must practice walking before you go out in public. Not only will you save yourself some embarrassment as you learn to perfect your walk, you also prevent the possibility of accidents arising from obstacles such as potholes, or uneven surfaces.
