Many things have changed about dating nowadays

Also, try and dress up and put on some perfume/cologne. Smelling like the pits and wearing your 'home clothes' is not going to impress your date. While I am not saying that you need to put on a tux or a dress, effort is the universal last button on any clothes. Unless you guys are a grunge couple, I always give points for people who at lest try to look good, and matching socks or tops/bottoms is always a plus. Also be firm, whether or not you are a guy or a girl.

While it might be charming to say 'No no, you decide' about 50 or so times, you might be slipping over the retch that people have left behind as they observe you. Be firm and take control of the situation, regardless of gender. The first date doesn't always spell everything about the other person, so give it at least 3 - 4 dates before you make a final decision.
