The Woes Of A Bad Diet

Everywhere you look you see fast food places

Everywhere you look you see fast food places. They're on every corner beckoning you to come on in. The grocery stores, convenient stores, and discount stores all have racks of candy, cookies, chips and soft drinks right there at the checkout making it hard for you to resist. Believe it or not, a large sporting goods/fitness store I was in had an assortment of candy bars right there at the checkout counter too. So much for being fit and healthy, right? And, with the fast paced lifestyle people have today, grabbing lunch or supper or a snack on the way has become a way of life for many. But, in the end, are all these "eat on the go" meals really worth the time or effort they save? NO! They are not.

An unhealthy diet of high in fat, high in sugar foods can really be bad for your health. Hence the term "unhealthy". These foods can cause you to put on a lot of weight. And we all know that packing on the pounds is bad for us for many reasons. Your heart has to work overtime when you are overweight. Plus, extra weight causes high blood pressure, high cholesterol, puts you at risk for heart disease, and type two diabetes. Not to mention, being overweight zaps your energy and it doesn't look good.

Unhealthy eaters are not all overweight. There are many skinny folks whose diet is just as bad. As a matter of fact, some underweight people have a problem gaining weight because of a poor diet. Your body requires a certain amount of protein and vitamins and minerals that junk food just can't provide. And when your diet is lacking, you are depriving your body of what it needs to function properly. This makes you a prime candidate of all sorts of illnesses and diseases.

An unhealthy diet can cause heart disease, diabetes, obesity, stroke, hypertension, osteoporosis, as well as various types of cancers. Unhealthy eating can be a real pain in the butt - literally - and cause hemorrhoids. That's right; when you eat unhealthy it can cause you to have unhealthy bowel movements such as constipation or diarrhea which can cause hemorrhoids.

So, in the end (excuse the pun), eating on the run is not worth the problems it causes, no matter how much time it may save you now. So, slow down and eat healthier. After all, your life depends on it.
