. Today I want to examine why so many mainstream facial moisturizers, as well as a wide range of other personal and beauty and skin care and anti aging products may be dangerous to your health, and why products such as facial moisturizers which use natural ingredients are always a better option.

It may come as a complete shock to you that so many of the products that millions of American women apply to their face and their bodies every day could be dangerous and pose a risk to their health. Unfortunately this is the case.

There's a wide range of chemicals which are used in mainstream anti aging products, cosmetics and many other personal products which are banned in Europe. The industry which produces these products in the US is a multi billion dollar industry and it is virtually unregulated.

The FDA is not required to satisfy itself about the safety of any of the personal products produced by this industry, and for that reason many products that so many of us use every day contain chemicals that may be dangerous to our health. And in many cases we don't even know if these chemical ingredients are dangerous because no studies have been undertaken to ascertain their safety, or otherwise, for human use.

Facial moisturizers are a great example. There is an organization called the Cosmetic Safety Database. It's a database of products and ingredients that can be searched by any user. It's perfectly possible to search any personal product by name, and, if the product is listed in the database, you'll find a score for that product between 1 and 10. The products are rated on this scale with 1 being safe and 10 being a "high hazard".

Today I have been looking at a commonly available range of facial moisturizers. These products are used regularly, probably by millions of women, and are readily available to buy. And yet this range of products, for almost every product, scores at least 7 on the scale, 7 being a "high hazard".

The hazard results from the ingredients used in the moisturizer.

Organizations such as Teens Turning Green and the Campaign For Safe Cosmetics are fighting hard to publicize the fact that many of the products so many of us use daily may not be good for our health. In some cases the ingredients used in these products are linked to cancer.

This may be news to you. If this is the case then you may be starting to see why I am suggesting to you that if you are looking for a great facial moisturizer natural is the only way to go. There are some wonderful natural ingredients such as olive oil, jojoba oil, Shea butter and many others which make excellent moisturizers and which are entirely safe to use on your skin.

And it's perfectly possible to buy top shelf natural skin care products which contain these natural oils, and many other natural ingredients, all of which are safe and effective for anyone to use. However the mainstream companies still persist in using the chemical alternatives, basically because they are cheaper. And the silly thing is that the natural skin care products that I have mentioned are generally very price competitive, primarily because the companies that make them do not spend big on television advertising.

Hopefully you've learned something new today about products you may even have used this morning. And hopefully you've begun to understand why, if you're looking for a great facial moisturizer, natural is the only way to go.
