The Day Before Your Wedding Can Be Tough
After a year of planning details, hiring caterers and interviewing bands
, disc jockeys, and surveying wedding halls and churches, you are going to be either completely exhausted or totally focused. In either case, the last day of your wait, which is the day before your wedding, you have 24 hours to wrap up the details and take care of a few commitments. However, the biggest challenge you now face is getting some rest, you are going to need it.
The last day before your wedding is usually reserved for beauty treatments such as hair and make-up prep, nails and for final rehearsals. With any luck, you have worn and broken in those shoes you are going to be standing in for eight to ten hours tomorrow. If not, today is your last chance to get them worn so you know what to expect from them. You have a long day tomorrow, which means you have a lot to do today.
The most important thing that you must do today is get some rest. After you have tied up all the details and loose ends, and after you have spoken to all the caterers and picked up your dress, and after you have been to the salon and the rehearsals, it is finally time to relax so that you can be at your best when the big moment comes. Since you are going to the salon anyway, why not line up a nice, soothing massage. There is no better way to get those kinks out than to lie down and let a professional work all of those tired, aching knots out of your body. A massage will relax you and give you an invigoration that you will definitely need on your wedding day so bite the bullet and spend the money.
A good regimen of vitamin B6 and vitamin B12 is recommended for clear-headed thinking, especially today. This is pretty much the most important day next to your wedding day because you have to wrap up the details and make sure everything and everyone is 100% ready to go tomorrow. If you are medically sound, you might consider drinking one of those 5-hour energy shots. These are fantastic at allowing you to focus on small details and do not have that let down that other so-called energy drinks have. Whatever you do, stay away from those 16 - 32 ounce energy drinks, as they are full of sugar and do more harm than good.
Check your wedding planning notes, check-off list, and journal if you kept one and use it to create a detail list. Mark off items that are completed such as whether you ordered and received those candle-wedding favors or if your elegant wedding favors have been transported to the reception location. Have all your caterers been notified and verified? Is everyone clear on travel arrangements to and from their home or hotels? These are the kind of details that you must attend to the day before the big event. There are many more so make your detail list as detailed as possible.
Make sure to schedule everything as early in the day as possible, including any rehearsal dinners or walk-through. You will need to get plenty of sleep so keep a clear schedule late in the day. Everyone and his or her mother will want to call you to wish you luck on the upcoming day. Even though you want to speak with them, be polite as possible and do yourself a favor, get some sleep. If you cannot sleep, be comforted in the knowledge that the body will get rest if you lie awake but inactive. It is not as good a nice, sound sleep but it is better than nothing. Avoid taking anything to help you sleep as you might wake-up groggy and you will need all your faculties on your big day.
