Thanksgiving,Christmas and How Your Weight Suffers
Thanksgiving,Christmas and How Your Weight Suffers
The holidays are near and we are all expecting the celebrations and parties where we will enjoy ourselves and meet our friends and families. However, this is a time of exaggerating with the food and beverage, adding weight and spending the following year trying to get rid of the extra pounds. But with planning and organising, things can be better.
No matter what diet you are on, if you have had weight loss surgery or want to have it, you should still enjoy the holiday, since this does not prevent you from achieving your weight loss goals. However, there are some common obstacles that we must win and reach your goals.
One obstacle you may find during holidays is when attending a party. People use to eat and drink a lot at parties and it would be very difficult for you if you want to maintain your weight, especially if you had weight loss surgery more than six months earlier, as you have probably noticed that you do not feel full all the time you felt after the surgery. Therefore, you must follow some tips in order to overcome this barrier:
You must eat before you go to parties and do not go to them when hungry, that hunger could make you lose control and eat everything you see. While you are at the party, make a list of 5 things you want to eat and focus on them, but don't exagerate with the portions.
Try not to drink cocktails or champagne, as they are extremely high in calories. Red wine would be a good option,as it good for your health.
A great barrier to losing weight, during holidays and not only, is stress, as a lot of things happen, events, gift buying, parties. You need to put yourself on the first place and not others' needs and enjoy yourself. You also need to keep your daily habits and routine, your daily walk and exercise and your family needs to be supportive.
A major obstacle to losing weight, and not just on holidays, is stress, because many things are happening, events, buying gifts and parties. You have to prioritize and have fun. You also need to keep up with the daily grind and routine, walk every day and exercise and advise your family to be supportive
If you feel like you might need some extra help these holidays, you should join our Back on Track Program, that was created for patients who are at least six months after surgery.
