Testosterone Replacement Therapy For Men Effects
We're all familiar with menopause, the decline in estrogens as women age
. You may not be aware that men face a similar decline, known as "andropause." It's not as commonly recognized because it's a much more gradual process, but it can have many drastic effects, dropping your overall quality of life.
The number of factors that cause this slow of your endocrine system are staggering. Among the most drastic of them is simply aging itself. Each year after age 30, your testosterone production drops by about 2% each year. Over time this really begins to add up. Once it begins dropping, it creates an imbalance with other hormones such as estrogen, which can cause the decline to become more pronounced.
With the decline comes some nasty side effects. One of the most basic is that your sex drive will begin to wane. Of course, this tends to sneak up on us, as life keeps us busy with so many other things that it goes unnoticed until we're left with little desire for sex at all, wondering what happened.
Another common problem is the increase in weight as we age, gaining the iconic "beer gut" or "spare tire." The decline in testosterone will trigger the body to build or maintain less muscle, and begin storing more fat. Of course, most of us still have the same eating habits we had when we were in our teens or twenties, when our bodies were still bristling with testosterone and processing all the extra calories into muscle, and blocking much of the fat storage. It's no mystery why that belly grows with each year.
Exercising regularly is critical. We all know that the general health benefits of exercise are great, and who doesn't want to be in better shape? But it also increases our testosterone levels. Besides reducing body fat, (a substance which directly reduces your testosterone levels,) the exercise itself will cause your body to produce more testosterone. If incorporated in a daily routine, you can highly reduce the amount of testosterone your body converts to estrogen.
Diet is another important factor. Most hormones are produced from cholesterol, and testosterone is no exception. The key here is that you want to raise your HDL, or "good" cholesterol. In itself, cholesterol and diet is a huge topic. A couple basic measures you can take though are to find a good quality fish oil supplement, which will help generate HDL cholesterol, and of course make sure to take a basic multivitamin daily, at the least. Through these simple steps, you can be sure your body has the basic building blocks necessary to produce testosterone.
Your daily quality of life should be one of your most fundamental concerns and utlising
testosterone replacement therapy can greatly improve your lifestyle. There's probably very few substances more potent than testosterone, when it comes to male health, which play such an overarching role in maintaining that quality. At the end of the day, what really matters is that you are able to feel great and enjoy each day of your life to its fullest.
