Taking The Whole Family On A Camping Adventure

Taking the family on a camping holiday is a fantastic way for everyone to get away for a well-deserved break, but on a limited budget

. Why spend loads on an expensive break abroad when you have the beautiful British countryside and lots of things to do right on your doorstep?

One of the best things about camping is that the kids will think it's a massive adventure, while mom and dad can kick back and enjoy the surroundings. However, if there's going to be quite a few of you going along, you'll need the right tent and camping equipment to ensure everyone has a comfortable and enjoyable trip.

If you want to make sure everyone has plenty of room, your best bet is to go for one of the jumbo-sized family tents that are available. These days you can get 6-8 man tents that are a lot easier to put up (and a lot more affordable) than the larger tents of old. You want your tent to be waterproof, warm and ideally have separate bedrooms and living areas so everyone can have their own space.

While there's no need to go all-out and break the bank on a really expensive tent, it is worth getting a decent one as you want it to last. Look for quality brands like Lichfield, Gelert and Urban Escape and you won't go far wrong. There are some really good deals coming up this summer, so keep an eye out and you could bag yourself a bargain.

Once you've got the tent sorted, start thinking about sleeping equipment. For the best comfort you'll probably want to buy a few airbeds and a pump, and some sleeping bags to keep everyone warm. Don't forget pillows, and remember to pack some warm PJs as it can get chilly at night.

Lastly you should think about whether you want to cook your own food while you're camping. The great thing about this is that you can feed the whole family using simple but tasty dishes like chilli con carne, pasta or other one-pot recipes. If you think you'd be a dab hand at cooking outside, get yourself a camping stove and some fuel, and take along some pots, pans, cutlery and plastic crockery. You could also take a barbeque if you like.

Once you've got all the essentials covered, you'll be ready to take the family away for a fun-filled and rewarding trip. The UK has a wealth of country parks, mountains and seaside resorts that have family-friendly camping areas, so you'll be spoilt for choice. Happy camping!
