Sensa : Weight Loss
Sensa is a new weight loss program, involving a powder sprinkled over the food before it is eaten
. Read on to learn more about the program, how to use it, and why it may not work.
Sensa is a powder you sprinkle over your food to trick your taste buds and brain into eating less food. It comes in portable packs so you can leave one at home and take one with you wherever you go to eat. There are different stages of the program for people to use for a period of one month each over six months. At the end of the six months, you can start over again.
It seems easy, just sprinkle the powder over whatever you decide to eat. Exercise is recommended, but the basic premise of it says you can eat whatever, whenever, because the sprinkles will enhance the taste of the food, so you eat less when your brain thinks you are full--and lose weight by subconsciously cutting calories.
This doesn't seem to do anything to offer overweight people who have a problem with eating. Many people do not stop eating when they feel full, which causes the weight to pile on. Simply tricking your brain into feeling full is not going to help these people, the people who need help losing weight the most, and this is considered the major flaw in the
Sensa weight loss plan.
The diet also has other flaws:
People learn nothing about nutrition and what is healthy for them. By eating whatever you want, whenever you want, you learn nothing about what you should be eating to promote a healthy weight loss without the powder. You are doing nothing to speed up the metabolism, which whole foods help you do.
There's no exercise plan. The small print says you'll get better results with exercise, but all diets do-and it's very understandable as to why exercise helps you lose weight. By not pushing any particular exercise program, the diet does not seem like it will do well for people.
No personal growth. By doing what you've always been doing, with the simple addition of a sprinkled powder, nothing is learned, and nothing gained. When you lose weight and better your lifestyle, you should feel good about the changes you are making and with this you are not learning to make any changes.
No long term results. When you stop using the powder, you'll gain weight again, because you made no changes to your diet.
Does this mean the program won't work? No. If you make the necessary changes to your eating habits and start an exercise plan, it could be a nice addition to another program to help boost efforts.
