The announcement of Willie and Kate tying the knot has got us all in a tizz. Seriously who really gives a monkeys? A rich descendent of the sax-coburg dynasty ties the knot with the daughter of a rich self made man. Notice the word rich occurs twice. .I`m going to use it again. Isn`t it rich that the taxpayer who by next July may not have a job, may not have a house and if lucky enough to still have a house and a job will be paying 20% VAT, receiving less benefits and social services and paying more for their fuel and lighting, will be footing the bill for the royal wedding?
See , the point is here that the powers that be think that the average Joe public CARE about Royalty and think they will be distracted by the royal shennanigins with a Public holiday and a session in front of the google box. Let`s see if William is of a new generation of Royalty. Lets see if he will take the lead by showing an example to the public, by being prudent with the wedding costs in these harsh economic times for ordinary people.What about a civil ceremony in the Palace with a reception in the garden (It`s big enough) ? He has already made an excellent start saving a good few bob by using his mothers ring as an engagement gift for his fiance.
A quiet family wedding, covered by Hello and OK in the back garden would really endear William in particular and the Royal family in general to the British public and strengthen Royalty against the Republicans lurking in the background. I don`t think I will hold my breath though . Still we live in hope. However, I will be booking my annual trip to Lanzarote as soon as I have the date for the wedding of the year.
