Pure Porcelain Crowns Restoring Teeth To Natural Strength and Beauty
Teeth often take the brunt of life we clench
, play hard and drink acidic drinks. Eventually it can lead to root canals, or broken, decayed, damaged teeth. But no matter how badly your tooth is decayed or damaged, it may not mean the loss of the tooth. We have a great solution to restore teeth to comfort, strength and function pure porcelain crowns.
Crowns work so well to strengthen teeth because they encase the entire visible part of a tooth, firmly attached to your own tooth beneath. This means the crown is anchored by the tooth's own roots dental crown becomes your natural tooth's new outer surface.
Do You Need a Crown?
Patients often come to us with teeth that are cracked, badly chipped or decayed, or with aging metal fillings that have extensive damage hiding beneath them. Those who need a root canal, often also need a crown. If your teeth hurt, have old metal fillings that have left your teeth dark and crumbling, or if your teeth have broken, porcelain crowns may be your best solution for health and comfort.
How are Our Crowns Different?
Many restorations are fabricated using a metal lining covered with porcelain. These restorations are not natural in appearance. They are opaque or flat looking because they do not let light pass through the way a natural tooth does. There is often a dark or gray line next to the gum-line.
We believe that everyone deserves to have the most attractive and up-to-date restorations available. All of our care is designed to both look great and keep you healthy. Our crowns are made of pure porcelain, never fused to metal. This makes our crowns uniquely difficult to distinguish from your other teeth because they transmit light the way a natural tooth does. They are durable, comfortable and never leave an ugly darkness at the gum line.
What is the procedure?
First, let me mention that I offer sedation dentistry at my office in Nokesville. Sedation dentistry is a great way to help my patients relax and rest through any procedure. I think sedation dentistry can be especially helpful during the placement of a crown because crowns are usually needed when there is extensive work needed as well.
Once your root canal, decay removal or old filling removal is complete we will take an impression of your tooth or teeth to send to the dental laboratory. We will place a temporary crown to keep your tooth comfortable and protected until your permanent crown is completed.
When laboratory has completed your beautiful, custom crafted crown, you will return for placement. We will measure and fit your crown and check for color correctness and compatibility. Once everything meets our exacting standards and you feel happy and comfortable with the crown, we will permanently cement your crown in place.
Talk to us about the options. A crown created in pure porcelain looks and feels so natural, you will probably forget they weren't always there!
