Instead one should enjoy it for what it is, a bonding time between you and your new baby.

Eating healthy also plays an important factor in losing weight as well as provides the nutrients your baby needs. You should eat fruits, vegetables as well as whole grain foods. Chips and fried foods should be avoided whenever possible during this time. Chances are during the pregnancy your doctor placed you on a special diet. You should continue to follow this diet even after delivery. You should also drink 8-10 glasses of water a day.

You do not want to do vigorous exercises right away. You can begin taking walks with your baby around the block, or even around the store. This allows your body to still move and get some work out in, while not causing to much strain on your body. Make sure you get confirmation from your doctor that you are ready to begin working out. This is especially important, if you delivered through cesarean.

Your body has gone through several changes with the pregnancy, delivering and now breastfeeding. Allow your body to heal before beginning to take on heavy work out routines. Waiting 3 months until your period has gone back to normal, would be ideal, before making your body go through heavy exercises.

Lack of sleep can have a negative impact on losing weight. When you are not getting enough sleep, your body tends to tell you, you are hungry even when you are not. You end up eating more than you would have, if you got good hours of sleep. Your metabolism slows down as well, causing you to burn calories at a slower rate than you normally would. Having a baby at home can make sleeping difficult, however, you should try and nap at the same time your baby does.

A popular saying states that it takes nine months to gain the weight, and it should take about nine months to lose the weight. Enjoy the time with your new baby, and do not worry about those pounds, as frustrating as this may be. Once your body is ready, you will begin to lose pregnancy weight.
