The age of onset of both eating disorders is during puberty and early adulthood. Peer pressure has a lot to do with this condition. Since adolescence avoids being left out by their peers this gives them too much pressure which leads to drastic methods just to "go with the flow".

Another drawback of weight loss is obviously the challenge of discipline. You may need to take drastic changes in your eating habits once you engaged in a weight loss program. It would be very hard to abruptly get rid of the foods you love to eat.

In relation to the food restriction, personality problems may arise like being easily irritated, possible depression and the like. Since you are being challenged and forbidden to eat the foods you're really craving this can really upset you in turn. Relationship with family and friends may also be a problem due to your dieting.

Weight loss is not a bad thing if you will analyze it properly. It is actually one of the health teachings in the medical field for the improvement of one's health. It only becomes bad once a person already abuse it. Just like the saying, "Too much of everything is bad".
