In the restrictive surgery the size of the stomach is made smaller which makes one feel fuller quickly. In the malabsorptive surgery, the small intestine is connected to the stomach that limits the amount of food absorbed.
Deciding on whether to plunge into weight loss surgery is not easy. Dieters must take into consideration the after effect as well with their chosen surgeon and find out every inch of detail about the procedure. The benefits of weight loss surgery which meant losing weight at a rapid rate and reversing the health conflict that obesity has brought is already obvious for most people. It has been reported that most people retain their normal blood sugar level after they have undergone surgery but limited to patients who have had diabetic condition for a long time or those who are already old aged.
There are several side effects that were reported for weight loss surgery patients including vomiting, nutritional deficiency, gallstone and other complications involving abdominal hernias, infections nausea, bloating, diarrhea, sweating and stretched stomach outlets. Women are also advised to refrain from being pregnant until their weight has become stable enough and nutrition can be supplied normally throughout the body to avoid any complications for the baby.
The beneficial effects of weight loss surgery is not of a long-term basis. Patients still need to exert an effort to alter their lifestyle towards healthy eating habits and frequent exercise routines. If one choose to retain their usual way of life they could end up caught in the cycle of weight gain and then seeking weight loss aids.
