Planning A Wedding As A Reflection Of Your Marriage

Much work goes into planning a wedding. You can see that if you have planned your own or if you have watched any specials on television where they go through a bride's day. As you watch these programs and think about your own special day, you probably will not remember much talk about your upcoming marriage. You may have gone to some marriage counseling, and that is a great idea. Many ministers require it. It is not likely though that you and your spouse-to-be sat down together before making the plans and tried to integrate things about your future together into the ceremony and reception.
You might be wondering what could be integrated into your wedding that has to do with the future of your marriage. There are actually a few things. Consider the philosophy the two of you have of marriage, consider finances, and consider your worship.
Every wedding is different, but every bride and groom has some sort of philosophy of marriage whether they know it or not. It is a good thing to think and talk about. It might be what helps you to stay married for fifty years like your grandparents and their parents before them. This could have something to do with your vows. You could write your own vows. This is obviously not new, but your own vows can be a representation of your philosophy. Do not plan on saying for better or for worse etc., if you believe it is okay to leave your spouse when the going gets a little tough.
Finances are another consideration. As you go into the planning of your big day, sometimes frugality goes out the window. Maybe you figure your parents are handling it, so there's no need to hold back. Rather than handling the finances with that attitude, why not begin doing what you plan to do with money when you get married. Maybe you are not good with money. Before you say I do is a good time to start thinking about it because finances play a major role in many marriage break-ups.
Another thing to consider as you plan for this most important event in your life is worship. Every belief system worships something. Think about what you and your spouse-to be-worship, and integrate that into your ceremony. This could be shown through vows, music, or a special message from the one leading the ceremony. Worship will be a major part of your life whether you think it will be or not, so before you begin life together it is a good idea to start talking about what and how you will worship together.
This is a deep way of looking at weddings, but maybe if people looked a little deeper before diving in, they might stay together longer. Not all marriages end because they did not start right. Many people have wonderful intentions and love for each other. Integrating these ideas into your plans will definitely not hurt, and they might help.
