Plan An Amazing Wedding On The Beautiful Island Of Maui
Unless you are familiar with Maui and have a lot of extra time to do your own research
, we highly recommend using a full service wedding coordinator. This person will go over all of your choices with you from start to finish and she will make all the arrangements. If there is any challenge that comes up, you can count on her to remedy the situation.
How do you choose?
Once you find a website that attracts you, make sure you read over it well so that you understand exactly what they offer and what their policies are. Take a little time to get to know who you would be working with. Ask some questions to make sure this is a company that you could count on, such as: How long has this company been in business? How much time will the coordinator give toward planning your particular wedding? What choices of services are available through this company? What are the different wedding site locations they offer? What are some of the nicest touches or unique services they can provide? What do they do in case of rain? Would they supply you with references for couples they have previously worked with?
What style of ceremony do you prefer?
Discuss with your fiance what is most important for you in a ceremony. Do you want some of the Hawaiian themes woven into the ceremony? Do you want a Native Hawaiian minister to perform the ceremony? Would you prefer something traditional or something romantic and fun? If you have an idea of what is important to you, then your coordinator will be better able to create an experience for you that is truly memorable and suites your personal style.
Should you include a reception of some sort?
Consider whether you want a beautiful ceremony only event or whether you want to include a mini-reception or an elegant dinner reception. Discuss the options and costs with your coordinator. If you decide on having just the ceremony be arranged for you, ask your coordinator to make some suggestions regarding some nice restaurants for dinner afterward.
Where should you get married?
Once you have a coordinator you can trust, discuss the options. If you do want to include some type of reception afterward, keep in mind that some locations work better for this than others. Some options to consider:Private oceanfront estate, Country Club Grounds, Public Beach Setting (suitable for ceremonies only), Resort Grounds.
How do you make it legal?
In our opinion, your coordinator should help arrange all these details and we actually include this service as part of all our packages. Your coordinator should provide you with the marriage certificate application. This should be filled out prior to coming to Maui. Your coordinator should also set up an appointment for you (that is close to your hotel for convenience) where you can meet with the licensing agent. This appointment is relatively quick and simple.
To be prepared you will need: $65 cash payable at the time of the appointment, Photo ID cards for each person (Driver's License, Passport, etc.) and a completed application.
Not required: Blood tests, waiting periods, divorce documents. The agent will give you the actual formal document that will need to be presented to your minister on the day of the wedding. The minister will help fill it out and he will file it with the state. You will be sent an official copy in the mail. There is a form that can be sent in (the agent will give this to you) to help speed up the time it takes to get it back.
