Physical Activities which One Can Do or Avoid During Pregnancy
Part of the good health in pregnancy is the physical activity which you need to prepare your body for the eventual birth of the baby
. However, there are some high risk pregnancies that may have to avoid any form of physical activity especially if they are on TBR or total bed rest.
For those who have healthy pregnancies, it is encouraged to do some physical activities and even some exercises which may prove beneficial later on during labor and post partum recovery.
If you already did some form of physical exercises before the pregnancy, and had continued to do them before the discovery of the pregnancy, and if everything seems alright, then go ahead and continue the exercises. They can actually be very beneficial for your body in preparation for the rigours of the next several months and the birth later on.
It is normal to feel more tired than usual in the first trimester, eventually, on the twelfth to sixteenth week, things will start to feel better and healthier, some women actually feel stronger and they can increase the physical activities. This can continue until the last trimester where again the body feels more tired than usual. When this happens, do not force the body to compensate. Go with the flow, if you feel tired, rest. If you need to modify your regimen, do so. Never go against what the body feels, especially just before the birth.
Physical activities that are to be avoided are those which can put a strain on the body, especially if the strain can cause cramping and bleeding, so lifting of weights is not encouraged, even if you were a weight lifter.
Some of the activities which can be included in pregnancy are walking, swimming, yoga, aqua aerobics, or even belly dancing. The high impact activities like the lifting of weights as previously mentioned, running, high impact aerobics, bicycle riding, contact sports and other competitive sports like high jumping and martial arts may have to either be avoided or modified.
Eventually, the closer you are to the due date, the physical activities may have to be stopped. Readiness will have to be done waiting and twiddling the thumbs.
