This is one of the more popular questions I receive when people first start out with the p90x workouts. There are two reasons you may not be losing the weight right away and I will explain both.

For the people that are not seeing the weight loss results at first, most of it is attributed to the fact that muscle weighs more than fat. When you start your workouts you may not see a change in the scales but you are now noticing how your clothes are fitting different and you are losing inches. In my experience I was more concerned with getting from a size 40 waist down to a 34. Losing weight is great but turning the fat into muscle was a priority for me. I lost on average about 2 pounds per week following the workout videos and the diet plan.

That is about the average but there a some people that don't start experiencing those results until about the 5th week. Each of our bodies are different. Some may be more overweight than others, some may have been athletic their whole lives. Each case is different but the one thing that remains consistent is that you will see a difference.

Now the second reason you may not be losing weight with your p90x workouts right away is a little harder to understand. Believe it or not you may be putting your body into starvation mode. Naturally people think to lose weight they must stop eating as much. Here lies the rub.

The body is an amazing machine. Think back to the caveman times when they didn't know how much or how often they were going to eat. The body would start storing the food in the form of fat simply because it didn't know when it would be fed again. Think of it as emergency fuel. The metabolism would slow down to store this. Once your body has learned that it will be fed on a regular basis it starts burning that emergency reserve and the scale will start moving.

Now don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean you can stuff your stomach full of fast food every 3 hours. You must start eating the right foods on a regular basis and with the p90x workouts you will start seeing the results. I hope this has given you a better view if you have not been losing weight with your p90x workouts.
