On Pope Paul VI's Humanae Vitae's Responsible Parenthood

Being a mom and a dad is not accidental but something that is destined for a mission. Parents fulfill a role for themselves and for their offspring. In the same token that a SWAT team is given a mission order, parents are given the mission order to become responsible parents.

In a mission, a SWAT team is given tools (guns) to achieve their objective. These tools however are only meant for the fulfillment of their mission objective. In other words, a SWAT team does not randomly use their weapons or tactics just for anything like shooting people for no apparent reason.

I will not hesitate to draw my analogy from the SWAT and use it for responsible parenthood. Because biologically speaking, parents are equipped with "weapons" or "tools" that can be used for the propagation of the human race.

Although the analogy may seem to be too comic or mundane or even far out, on the contrary I believe the comparison to be reasonably appropriate on the principle that any weapon should be used reasonably and with respect to their function.

If the SWAT team recognizes its power through its weapons to destroy the enemy, then couples through their "human intellect discovers in the power of giving life biological laws which are part of the human person." In other words, doing the marital act only on the basis of "instinct or passion" and without having the"necessary dominion which reason and will must exercise over them" as what Pope Paul VI's Humanae Vitae states, is like shooting someone just because you like shooting people or because shooting has become more a matter of passion than anything else.

Unwanted pregnancies occur when in the first place there was no use of "reason" and "will" in doing the marital act and in grave cases, the sexual acts even outside marriage.

I would not like to sound like a male chauvinist pig here but I believe that, essentially, being man enough involves some "thinking" about the consequences of one's act, actually any deed at that.

The man therefore should see to it that he and his partner should know the consequences of their sexual acts and as such use their will and reason beforehand rather than leave it to their instinct or passion - in the same manner that male dogs are instinctively drawn toward bitches in heat.

Unfortunately, men have probably forgotten the cardinal virtues like prudence and temperance which could have swayed the will and reason at the most crucial time. Instead, promiscuity which is flagrantly espoused by the popular culture and mass media has instead become the rule and norm of the day.

Real men should know better and ought to face the consequences of their acts.

Sadly, it would appear that they don't know and many times even convince their partners to do things that are not only despicable but cowardly.

And the men that I speak about here include foremost, those wayward religious theologians and Catholic, in cahoots with politicians and policymakers who paved the way for immoral laws like the infamous Roe vs. Hyde ruling by the Supreme Court that eventually allowed for abortions and the mass contraceptive mentality.

Come to think of it, unwanted pregnancies that result to abortions among the women folks, on a deeper and broader perspective, are more the fault of men, being the "stronger" specie (no sexist/gender prejudice intended.)

And if women groups fight for their supposedly rights to abortion, it is probably because the men behind them have become more of weak and consenting pagans who conform to selfish and immoral pagan practices than being the kind and brave Christian gentlemen whose mission is to defend the faith and their loved ones even to the point of martyrdom.
