1st round:
-Be extremely careful when choosing a team below a #12 seed to win.
-#16 seeds are 0 for 88. #15 seeds are 4 for 88. #13 and #14 seeds are less than 19% combined to win in the first round.
-Pick upsets in the #12-#9 seed range.
-Look especially hard at picking #12 seeds; they have won 11 of 24 matchups vs. #5 seeds the last six years. #9 seeds have a winning record vs. #8 seeds overall.
2nd round:
-Pick the number 1 seed to win! They win their first 2 games 87% of the time.
-Keep choosing the #12 and #10 seeds you picked to win in the first round. They win nearly half the time in the 2nd round (14 of 29 for #12 seeds; 17 of 35 for #10 seeds).
-Rarely pick a #13 seed or lower to win in Round Two. Only 9% of teams advancing past round 2 are 13 seeds.
Sweet 16:
-Pick 3 #1 seeds to go to the elite 8. Just over 70% of number 1 seeds go to the elite 8.
DO NOT pick ANY TEAM lower than a 12th seed to go to the final 8 teams.
Elite 8:
ADVANCE ONLY 2 NUMBER 1 SEEDS to the FINAL 4 and no number 8 seeds or lower! Only 2 of 88 final 4 seeds have been lower than 8.
Final 4:
Advance NO TEAM below a 6th seed!
Championship Game:
Pick no team below a number 4 seed to win it all!
By following these steps through all the rounds you now have a legitimate shot to win your ncaa men's brackets. You can easily win without having any knowledge of college basketball. Winning the NCAA men's brackets is one of the most challenging things to do, especially picking all 64 teams right.
