Losing Weight and Keeping It Off
Once you have lost the weight, the most important goal is to keep that weight off. What profits the individual if he or she loses the desired 40 or 50 lbs, only to regain most or all of it within a month or two months? This article will talk about some simple suggestions to help keep the weight off since the importance of success really is in the detail.
The setting of goals is so important. Just deciding that you are going to keep the weight off is simply not good enough for the vast majority of people who have just completed a diet to any degree of success. There must be goals that are set in order to prevent the person from "falling off the wagon" and thus, completely negating any or all of the success that has been achieved within the recent diet.
The second important aspect to keeping that weight off is to make sure to revert back to the old habits, only in moderation. For me, that is the frequenting of my favorite Chinese restaurant here in town. Instead of prohibiting myself from ever going back to the restaurant, I use it as a reward that can be enjoyed, but enjoyed no more than once a week. This negates the desire for me to treat the restaurant as a crutch or a source of comfort food. As a result, I no longer run back to the buffet when I had a bad day at work or I was stressed from something that happened with my fianc. The Chinese Buffet was relegated to its proper place of limited importance.
The third suggestion also deals with food. Often times, we acquire the weight slowly and over a long period of time. Also, if we are active and exercise on a daily basis, that weight gain can be even slower, yet still constant. Therefore, focusing on some minor changes in behavior will help the individual to at least maintain the weight loss that they have worked so hard to achieve. One of these simple post diet suggestions must deal with the consumption of soda, or pop as well call it up North. Many of us consume multiple cans/bottles of pop a day. This is correctly classified as empty calories as they give us no nutritional benefits. Not only can the average American consume close to 1,000 calories from soda products, by the daily intake of carbohydrates makes the product even that more dangerous.
Replacing soda products with a healthy alternative is so very, very important. You say that you hate the taste of water and that it is not an acceptable alternative? There is vitamin water and a wide array of other products that give you the taste that you desire without the hundreds of empty calories that contribute nothing to your life!!
