We are living in a society ruled by computers
We are living in a society ruled by computers. I have noticed a stark difference between children of the 21st century and the children born, when there were fewer computers.
The difference is on the fact, those children born before the computer age - where more physically fit than those born in the 21st century.
Why is this happening?
It is probably because most children nowadays do not only eat too much junk food and fast food, but they also spend too much time in front of the computer. This type of inactive lifestyle can lead to childhood obesity.
Childhood obesity has a detrimental effect on the child's health and this should prompt parents to device children weight loss plans.
Childhood obesity effects include the onset of juvenile diabetes, predisposition to hypertension, and an increased risk for coronary artery diseases. Although a weight loss plan may help resolve childhood obesity, there are factors, which have to be taken into account in order for the plan to be effective.
a. Eating Habits - Children nowadays have different eating habits. Although these eating habits play a huge role in children and nutrition, it can also be a contributing factor to obesity in children. The habit of eating junk foods and fast food meals can contribute to excessive weight gain in children because these foods are loaded with calories and fats. Part of the children weight loss plan should include modification of eating habits.
b. Lifestyle - I have seen a good number of children spending hours sitting in front of the computer and doing nothing. Sitting for hours is actually a form of sedentary lifestyle. A sedentary lifestyle contributes to childhood obesity because the calories from food are stored and then converted into fat, because it is not used for energy.
Children weight loss plans help combat the negative effects childhood obesity. However, if the plan does not include modifying the child's lifestyle and eating habits then the plan is bound to fail. Nevertheless, along with weight loss plans - there are also programs for obese children - that can help them lose weight efficiently and consistently.
