Her father permitted her to enter a monastery, but he ordered his men to mistreat her so that she would return back to him. But she remained firm in her decision. Then her father arranged her to be killed, but a spirit appeared and carried her to a remote island. After some time her father fell ill and the doctor prescribed him to grind the arms and eyes of a person who is free from hatred and drink it. Miao-Shan was the only one who willingly agreed to give her eyes and arms. When her family members thanked her, she replied that she repaid for the love of her father and she disappeared. Her family built a shrine in her name on the same spot.
