Animal products such as egg yolks and chicken contain arachidonic acid which is a type of fat that is important for a healthy and balanced diet but does contain inflammatory properties. It is therefore wise to limit the amount eaten.

Foods to look out for that can be a contributory factor in inflammation include sugar-laden snacks, refined and fried foods. Once consumed, they break down quickly and turn into sugar, thus increasing the prospect of inflammation and thus their consumption should be limited or avoided altogether especially when symptoms are active.

Having to deal with colitis is not easy but by adopting some basic rules with regard to a balanced diet for colitis and how to live with the disease on a daily basis, the person can ensure that they are contributing to the effort to try and maintain good health and reduce the chances of symptoms and a relapse appearing from being self induced.
