Keep Your Wedding Day on Schedule
You can spend months planning your wedding, and still leave your guests wondering
if there was any plan at all if the day is disorganized or doesn't flow very well. You most certainly do not want this to happen on your wedding day. The key is not just planning, but planning for what could go wrong and preparing for it in advance. If you walk through the entire day in your mind as you plan, you can anticipate where there might be problems and make arrangements to have a way to address them should something go wrong. Once you have sent out your
wedding invitations, you are committed to having a large group of people in one place at one time. Any time this happens there is potential for someone or something to go wrong. It is this occurrence that you want to be sure to have a plan for.
Whether you hire a wedding planner, or enlist the help of your Aunt Betty, you need someone who can be the "go to" person on your wedding day for anything that arises that could put your wedding off track or off schedule. Let's face it, you will be nervous and pre-occupied on this day, and the last thing you need is to have to deal with any kind of issue. But, if you know that you have someone already in place prepared to handle anything that comes up, it can give you a sense of calm about the day.
How you choose your "go to" person is really a personal choice, but there are some factors to keep in mind. You need someone who is able to deal with a large crowd of diverse people without offending anyone. There may even be times when they need to get assertive. You also want someone who will not get caught up in the celebration of this joyful day to the point that they forget their job. This is one advantage of hiring a wedding planner. You, and they, know that they are working and are not there primarily to enjoy the festivities. On the other hand, if you ask a friend or relative, they will not want to refuse your request, but they also can get caught up in the day and forget their duties.
At the end of the day, you might not notice or remember much of what happens on your wedding day, but you still want the day to be an enjoyable one for all of your friends and family in attendance. That is the best reason to plan in advance and then let go and enjoy your day.
