One of the greatest moments in my life, as you might expect
, was the moment that I got engaged to my spouse. Not only were we madly in love and I was absolutely exhilarated by the thought of spending my life with him, but the event was like one you would see in a movie.
It was sunset on Laguna Beach--a place we had gone many times for dates on the shore. We had explored the tide pools like kids. But at this moment, we stood close to the point where the tide was rolling in, and when we looked out to see, there was dolphins jumping into the air. I kid you not!
Now the only thing that could possibly be more romantic and meaningful than getting engaged on this beautiful beach would have been to actually tie the knot at sea. That is why many couples today choose to say "I do," on a yacht. This choice for a wedding locale is stylish and elegant.
But you should know that decorating the interior of a yacht is much different than a country club, hotel yard, or church. Obviously, in order to determine whether this is the correct choice for your dream wedding, you need to take a hard look at your ideal guest list.
Typically speaking, your average yacht cannot hold the same number of loving supporters as perhaps your parish church or a country club, so make sure that a smaller, more intimate wedding is really what you both want.

Most yacht-based weddings are held on the bow, so make sure you allow enough space for an aisle and a raised platform at its head to serve as a little stage, ensuring guests can see what is going on. Be sure the area is well-lit if you are having an evening or nighttime service.
Also, make adjustments to attire for you, your intended, and your bridal party if the weather forecast predicts a chilly evening. Your position on the bow will probably subject you plenty of wind, so also plan your hairstyle and veil accordingly.
