There's many ways to lose weight and keep it off permanently, but what you need are solid principles that will get you to where you want to be. Once you have the principles down, you can vary the means and method however you want.

So what are the principles you must live by?

First is diet. You MUST change how you eat if you want to lose weight, after all if you do things the same and expect different results, that's insanity! (literally) But it doesn't have to be painful. Eating healthy can be very tasty if you know the truth. The truth that certain fats are actually good for you and will help you shed the weight.

The more natural the food the better, that's the rule. Start buying fruits, vegetables and meat at the store instead of all those TV dinners. You may even want to learn to cook, it can greatly help you and your loved ones stay healthy.

The second thing you need to think about is exercise. And no, I don't mean going to the treadmill and pounding out mile after mile everyday. In fact, if you start weight lifting you can get all the exercise you need in just 45 minutes, 3 times a week. And you shouldn't even do more than that!

Once you get the basic principles of weight loss down, getting rid of the excess fat on your body will not seem like a chore anymore, it will become easy. It's all about making small life changes that you live with a little at a time.
