Indias Poor Performance In The Cricket Twenty 20 World Cup 2010 And Dhonis Men In Blue: Probab

The Men in Blue have surely been going through the blues during the last few weeks

. Many experts touted that India will perform poorly in the World Cup T20 because of the hectic work load caused by the third edition of the IPL. This edition also had its fair share of controversies and this led to a lot of drama between management, franchises, teams, players and above all the loyal and ardent fans of crickets newest version i.e. the 20-20 format.

I was confident that our Indian team will do well and was pondering the idea of buying a brand new LCD television set. I was considering buying one of those LCD TVs that had brilliant display features and something that would go along with my TATA sky sports package which would further enhance the quality and clarity of the images. I wanted to see some pristine shots from the bats of Dhoni, Yuvraj, Gambhir, Raina, Pathan and Co. Sadly, it was not the case for the most part of this World T20 cup. Atleast, I did not go in for the purchase of the T.V. because I wanted to wait till Jan of 2011. Thats because the 50 over edition of the World cup is scheduled to start on Feb of 2011.

Now, I want to put some emphasis on why I think and feel that our beloved Indian team is slipping. These are just my personal views and may not be shared by one and all. First off, Indian team players are pampered way too much. They make so much money in endorsements by working for greedy corporations and this has led to conflict of interests in a lot of players. Players just dont seem so connected to a cause. They seem to be going through the emotions on the field. Money has blinded them so much that they may have probably forgotten the efforts to get into the team. Consistency has been another major concern for our team. Our Indian team does not seem to have a positive mind-set on big match days and against top-notch opponents like Australia and Pakistan.

I was unable to watch some matches on T.V. and could get instant match updates online at cricinfo.com, thanks to my Laptop and fast Internet connection. I was working during the day when India played the crucial game against Australia and my screen flashed sixes after sixes smashed by Watson and Warner-the opening pair for Australia. Once again our team failed us during a crunch situation. After that game we could never get back into contention. Could it be that players fitness played a role? It depends how one looks at it. Our national coach Gary Kirsten thinks that fitness is a major concern. Hence, we all should hope that our players hit the gym and fitness centers regularly.

In the end my personal analysis blames the following factors: the hectic schedule of the IPL and possibly the after match parties, money minded players leading to poor on field performances (I do know the importance of sponsors to the game), mind-set of the team leading to inconsistency and complacency, and fitness issues of some of the players. As a die hard fan of our Indian team I personally hope that our team will make some changes and play for the nation. They are brand ambassadors of India and must represent the nation with pride and honor. If these things do not happen, then I will have to change myself and find a new hobby. I could perhaps spend more time shopping online at different price comparison portals. At least, it will save me some money.
