Fortunately, if he doesn't want to commit there are some easy ways to get him to change his mind. First and foremost, drop all commitment talk. Don't bring it up again. You want to make him feel at ease around you so you need to let the issue go for now. He'll notice that shift fairly quickly and it will help him to let his guard down.

You've also got to show him that you're goal is not to take away his sense of self. You can do this most effectively by leading by example. Continue to lead your own life and pursue your own goals. Don't give up time with anyone in favor of being with your man. Once he sees that you're not about to give up your own interests for him, he'll realize you don't want him to either.
