Everyone of us would like to be ideal... of course, you would like to go out on the beach without being scared that you get laughs or weird looks, to be more sporty than you're now, maybe even impress some girl or guy you like... well it's on you to be like the person of your wishes or not to be! And not to scare you away, you only have one life, that means only one chance, one opportunity to make it right, but still remember, it's never to late.

On which side of statistic are YOU?

Just some statistics first, very scary statistics actually...today 74% of people in United States are obese or overweight, which is one of highest in the world. That means that from 4 persons, 3 of them have some issue with their weight and only one is with ideal weight! On which side of this statistic are YOU?

The biggest problem is that more and more children are being faced with this problem and they aren't even seriously aware of that. Everything is full of commercials with McDonald's, Coca Cola, Burger King, KFC and other fast food chains and similar industries. They consume information from TV, internet, magazines, practically everywhere but most from closest social groups, their families, particularly parents. And when children have that information stored it becomes normal to them, hey it's everywhere, everyone is doing it so it must good. WRONG! Because of that our following generations are facing obesity problem more and more and everything that comes with that. And consequences are not small.

Did you know that cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in America? On the other hand did you know that 16% of all deaths in United States are directly caused by obesity! That is 400.000 souls every year. Today obesity is on its way to becoming top preventable cause of death replacing tobacco. But you wont get too mad if you little kid eats fries or drinks Pepsi, but what if it takes a smoke? You get the point. Just calculate following; 400.000 people every year, that is the popularity of whole city killed directly by cheeseburger and xxl portion of french fries!

Why is this happening?

Causes are numerous, they are given to us with modern lifestyle. So we can't fight this? Wrong again. Persons weight is actually easy mathematics. You put more energy (food) IN than energy OUT over time, you gain weight. You put more energy OUT then energy IN over time, you lose weight. You put the same amount of energy in and out over time, your weight stays the same and that is what you want to achieve! But how to get to that ideal energy balance?

The modern inactive lifestyle; couple hours of tv, then computer, in-between high fat food and sugar drinks and everything repeats itself from day to day. This is our lifestyle for last 30 to 50 years, our genetics just can't adapt so quick. Generations and generations have to exchange before we adapt to today lifestyle consuming 4000 calories per day or even more, while normal is around 2000. Till then we'll have type 2 diabetes, heart attacks, high blood pressure, colon cancer and other health problems which eventually result inevitably with death.

What to do?!

The first thing is to start, to set yourself up for success, nothing comes over night. You have to simplify your mindset, not counting every calorie. Take little steps, exchange some food for healthy alternative, switch from butter to olive oil and similar little things, they do matter. Every little here and then you can treat yourself with something you really like, but only as prize for your success.

The next thing you have to slow down with energy in and speed up with energy out, the factor we've mentioned before. What does that mean? It means you have to eat slowly, it takes 10 minutes for our brain to acknowledge that we've eaten, so basically you could be smug and still be eating (overeating). Also big issues is when we eat and doing some other "activity" particularly watching tv. In that case, we eat practically subconsciously, we only put food to our mouth and chew without being fully aware of that. Sometimes our body can play tricks on us, when you feel hungry try to take a glass of water and wait 10-15 minutes. Maybe you were only thirsty. There are numerous "tricks" that can help you to get on the right path.

Your success may depend also on you genes. Every person has different ideal body weight. And for different parts of world, different kinds of diets. For example if you have 80% Italian genes, you body would be very happy with Mediterranean cuisine (a lot of olive oil, pasta, tomatoes, garlic and similar), small thingy but it's also an factor in maximizing healthy life.

Over time,doing small steps and listening to your body needs you'll lose weight and keep it ideal. Not only you'll have ideal body but your health and happiness factor will go trough the roof. We all know, in healthy body healthy mind. And all we need for this is a little push, just a little something that will start us.
