Getting your marriage back on track and together after cheating has ripped your world apart might sound like an impossible mission

Here are a few things you can do as you try to put your marriage back together again after cheating, that should make it much better than it was before. Just remember that you both have to roll up your sleeves and dig in to make these things happen.

1) Start making plans together. It can be small plans like having a weekly date night or big plans like a family project. Make sure the plans you make are something you are both likely to enjoy and that will ultimately benefit the marriage. The underlying goal is that you have goals for your marriage that you are working together to complete. It gives you both a common goal and a sense of purpose. These are two things that are sadly lacking in many marriages today.

2) Dump the emotional baggage from before the affair and refuse to pick it up again. Forgiving, forgetting, and moving along mean just that. You can't erase the past but you can make darn sure you don't sabotage your future by bringing the past into it at every turn you make as a couple. All the old arguments are now officially retired. Start over from the beginning and pretend there is no past to look beyond.

3) Take one moment, step, and day at a time. You don't have to build it all in a day. It's a process and if you rush it along important things may be missed or overlooked. Instead of sprinting through the process, take your time this time around and savor getting to know each other all over again. Make it is fun, exciting, and romantic as possible and maybe this time you will find much less room for concern or criticizing than before.

4) Make every effort, your best effort. If you give everything you have to the process of loving your spouse and building your life together there will be little room for failure. If you both commit to your very best efforts then you've doubled your odds of success. Give it everything you've got and you'll get so much more back in return. It's always amazing how life, love, and marriage work out like that.
