Growing up I can remember teasing my brother mercilessly about his "man boobs" to the point where he refused to take off his shirt at the beach. Summer became his most hated season and me his most hated sister.
Today our relationship is great. I grew up and my brother learned how to lose man boobs.
Surgery was not an option for my brother. Instead, he researched diligently how to lose his man boobs naturally. He soon discovered that his man boobs were the result of high estrogen and low testosterone and he was convinced he could reverse these levels without the use of prescription drugs. Here's how he did it.
The first thing he did was eat more cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage. These vegetables when consumed raw contain a chemical that helps the body get rid of excess estrogen. Pretty soon the crisper in our fridge overflowed with brussel sprouts, radish, kale, and Bok choi.
His diet also included fruits, nuts, and beans, all of which are high in fibre and are known to naturally flush out toxins that can cause a build up of estrogen.
He also started eating only organic fruits and vegetables. Vegetables grown with pesticides contain man-made estrogens which will lower testosterone levels. The chicken, beef, and pork he bought were raised on farms that didn't use artificial growth hormones or steroids. Grocery shopping took on a whole new meaning!
Diet alone however is not how to lose man boobs. My brother started exercising to force his body to produce more testosterone. His instructor had him do what was called Compound exercises which targeted several large muscle groups. Squats, bench presses, chin ups to name a few.
He also stopped drinking alcohol. Alcohol makes it more difficult for the liver to breakdown estrogen thereby decreasing the amount of testosterone in your system.
My brother also found a university study that showed that men who did not get enough sleep (6 to 8 hours) had lower testosterone levels than men who got 6 to 8 hours of good quality sleep.
These are just a few of the changes my brother made in his quest to lose man boobs and guess what? He's no longer shy about taking off his shirt around his sister!
