The question of how to lose weight the fastest and the safest way possible is something that millions of Americans probably ask everyday

Hundreds of diets and meal plans have cropped up in an attempt to change the way people eat by introducing healthier food alternatives that will speed up metabolism, burn fats and flush out toxins. Often, when asked how to lose weight, nutritionists and dieticians would recommend the increased intake of fluids and fiber in the diet while bringing down the amount of sugar, fats and carbohydrates in the diet. This generally simply means that you will have to eat more fruits and vegetables while trying to avoid the sinful desserts.
Likewise several diet pills, juices and food supplements have emerged also claiming to answer the age old question of how to lose weight. Unfortunately, what works for some may not necessarily work for others, thus a number of those who have tried certain diet pills and supplements find themselves suffering from a variety of side effects ranging from skin allergies, hair loss, stomach cramps, dehydration and the like.
However, what many Americans should realize is that there is no easy way to a slimmer, trimmer, healthier body. While diet pills and crash diets may do the trick for a while, most of the time the weight just bounces back in your face, your hips and your tummy. A healthy diet should always be accompanied by exercise or at the very least, increased physical activity. This means you must find or make time to visit the gym, join a class, jog or walk in the park or, if you must squeeze in exercise to your hectic daily schedule, get up earlier than usual and walk your way to work. Try to take the stairs once in a while especially if you are going down or even if just going a couple of floors up. If the grocery is just a block or two a way, it wouldn't hurt to leave your car behind and walk.
Losing weight also means learning how to say no to what is yummy and avoiding what is easy. Remember that avoiding scrumptious meals alone and saying no to that creamy delicious ice cream, can be very difficult. Likewise, it is always tempting to stay propped on the couch in front of your television during your days off.
Losing weight and sustaining your ideal body weight, and shape, is a difficult task. It is, without a doubt, hard work and will require every ounce of discipline that you can muster. There is always no easy answer when asked how to lose weight.
