How To Hide Gray Hair Between Regular Hair Colorings

I can understand your frustration. Two weeks is not a long time. And the darker your color the more contrast you'll have.
This probably happens because you're grayer than you realize, and as the roots grow out, the contrast between the gray color and the color you put on your head is visible. Imagine gray or white against black versus gray or white against light brown or dark blonde. The high contrast on women with dark hair is one reason many of them opt to become lighter as they become more gray. In fact, some go all the way and become blond. However that's not the solution for everyone.
Many of you would just look wrong with blond hair. But that said, you might have better results if you went up one level lighter. One level doesn't sound like much but it will make a difference.
Aside from lightening up one shade, I find it useful to switch to a semi-permanent formula. True, the grays will still be somewhat visible because they're blended, not covered. But at least the new growth won't be as shocking when it comes in. Two good brands to try are Clairol Nice 'n Easy Root Touch-Up and L'Oreal Root Rescue.
If you color every six weeks, use the hair color touch-up kit at the mid-point of your schedule, which would be during the third week. This will tide you over and make your color last much longer.
