Just like the standard procedure of styling hair, wash your hair properly. Let your hair air dry. It will be best if you let them air dry, however if you are in a hurry you can use a blow dryer to dry them quickly. You can use a large round brush while blow drying to keep your hair tangle free.
Apply a heat protection product to your hair. You must never forget to apply this because you will damage your hair if you do not do so. Divide your hair into different sections with the help of a wide comb. Dividing them into sections will help you manage them easily.
Now, take one section of hair which must be about 2 cm. Roll it around one pedal of the iron. Do this one by one to all sections of hair. Another way could be to place the iron at the base of one section of hair, now start sliding it in the downward motion and keep twisting it at the same time. It will require a little practice in the beginning but you will learn to do it. Once you are done with all the sections, run your fingers through your hair to make them even. Finish it off with a hair spray.
