HCG Diet Basics: Get To Know Them

What's the most popular diet at the moment? It's the HCG diet

. It's not popular because it's been endorsed by a really, really great celebrity. It's not popular because it is just SO fun. It's actually really strict (it limits dieters to 500 calories per day). It's not popular because there are tons of opportunities for fun exceptions. There are actually no exception on the HCG diet.

So what makes it popular? There is only one reason for the HCG diet to be popular. And that one reason is that it's effective. It not only says that it will help dieters lose weight; it actually does help dieters lose weight. It's kind of like the guy in high school that threw all the parties. He wasn't very likeable. But he planned a great party. People hung around him because they wanted to be where everyone else was and have fun. It was a get in and get out kind of deal.

That's how people think of the HCG diet. They don't think back on their HCG diet and smile because they had such a good time. They didn't like it. HCG dieters can't like it. They don't get to eat very much and they don't get to eat things that they actually WANT to eat. They "like" the diet in spite of the diet...because it helps them lose weight. Crazy, right? A diet that actually works.

Here are some basics about HCG Dieting:

1. Calorie limitation. Dieters are only allowed to have 500 calories per day. You don't get any days off or any "free" foods.

2. Lean proteins are the only proteins allowed. And on top of that they will tell you exactly which proteins are lean enough and which cuts are appropriate for you to eat. You don't get to make a lot of decisions in this area for the duration of the diet.

3. Do not step foot in the gym. This may sound odd at first, but remember that you'll be limiting yourself to 500 calories each day. That doesn't leave you with a few hundred calories that are "extra" that you can burn at the gym. And attempting to incorporate an exercise program while on the HCG diet will negate the purpose by kicking your body into starvation mode.

4. Portions are severely limited. Remember that restaurant you loved because the serving sizes were so big that you could take your leftovers home and have it for 3 meals after the fact? You MAY not go there. You probably shouldn't go there ever again. HCG dieters are only allowed a certain amount of food per "serving" and they are expected to measure their foods and stick to the rules strictly.

That's generally it. That's the HCG diet. Don't expect it to be fun. Don't expect it to be enjoyable. Don't expect it to be easy either. It's going to be hard and it's going to be less than enjoyable. But the most important aspect of the diet is that it's effective. So THAT you can look forward to.
