Guidelines In Buying A Bike
Buying a bike also needs some careful thinking
, especially when it is your first time to purchase one. You might get overwhelmed on how many choices you have in store.
So for you to get the perfect bike that will meet your needs and preferences, here are some guidelines you need to follow.
First, you need to determine what kind of riding you will involve yourself into. Know why you need a bike for? Do you need it for traveling to and fro your work place? Do you need a bike for recreational purposes like mountain biking? Do you need a bike for working out? You must answer these questions because there are basically different types of bikes and most of which are built for a special or specific purpose.
If you prefer to bike to work, then you need a road bike because they are specially designed for riding fast on a paved road. They have thin tires and lightweight frame. Also, they have a riding position wherein you will bend over the handlebars. These are important bike features to attain speed, especially when traveling long distances. Since the frames of this type of bike are not beefy, they are not able to carry heavy loads for a long period of time on rough terrains and surfaces.
If you are an extreme sport enthusiast and wants a bike, a mountain bike is perfect for you. Such bikes have wide tires, knobby treads, and thick and firm frame. These are designed to manage the rough trails without breaking down. They offer strength and riding comfort but they do not go as fast as road bikes. Mountain bikes have straight handlebars which allow you to sit on a higher and comfortable position. This bike is ideal for people who are suffering from back pains.
If you are not necessarily going after speed but durability, comfort, and safety altogether, you need a custom built bike.
You also need to consider your weight. Most bikes on the market have weight limit of 200 pounds. If you weight more than 200 pounds, you will certainly have trouble looking for a bike sturdy enough to carry your weight. They can be built with wider seats and tires, bigger frames, and stronger cranks, pedals, and chains. These bikes are also referred to as the super-sized bikes. They are customized bikes, larger and sturdier than regular bikes which may meet your needs since they are tailor-fit for you.
