Good Way To Fight For The Right Of Wedding
Why not fight for the right owned to you? The battle for equality for same sex marriages has been going on for some time now
. Unfortunately the majority of the world still frowns upon same sex marriage and so there are only certain cities and towns where gay weddings are actually considered legal. While there are certain locations around the world that allow for gay weddings, most of the world is still against it. This can make things very problematic and drives a lot of same sex couples away from getting married.
Canada and Mexico are two of the most popularly traveled to countries for this exact reason. In the United States Connecticut, District of Columbia, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont are allow gay weddings. However, considering that there are fifty states and only around ten that allow for gay weddings, this is a very small percentage. There are more locations in Europe than anywhere else in the world which allow for gay marriages to be held.
That includes Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. There are other locations around the world that allow for gay weddings too, but these are the main ones and those that most gay couples travel to if their hometown doesn't allow it. This is why it's so important for same sex couples to keep an eye on the news and watch out for different laws coming into effect. There are also a lot of different protests and meetings that same sex couples could be attending to fight against the ban on same sex marriages.
Openly gay celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres are constantly talking about issues like Proposition 8 which is a ballet proposition that was passed and then overturned but which is now being fought for again. Celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres and Lady Gaga make a profound effort of letting people know what's going on in the world and how they can help fight for equality. California is one of the most controversial states when it comes to gay weddings. Surprisingly, this is also where the largest majority of same sex couples live but because there is a democracy form of government in California, the vote was overturned.
Everyone has their own opinion on this matter. It's expected that over the next decade the number of locations around the world that allow for gay marriages will increase tenfold. Until then a lot of same sex couples will just need to deal with it or travel to get married. At least it's good to see that gay weddings are still legal in many places of the world.
