Getting the Right Photo when Entering a Baby Photo Contest
A beauty contest is not just for adults
A beauty contest is not just for adults. The world of babies has them as well. Every parent always has the fondest regard for their kids, especially during their cuddliest moments from infancy to about 6 years of age. Ask any parent who's the most beautiful or the cutest baby on the planet, and you can be sure about the answer. It's his or her baby.
Every parent is right about their baby. But as far as you are concerned, they're all wrong. You have the cutest baby. And the only way to prove that is to enter a baby contest where you bring your baby or toddler with you in a real pageant show.
Or you could just submit your baby pictures in a cute baby photo contest on the internet. There are many sites that openly invite moms and dads as well as single parents to submit the best photos of their little darlings either in a contest or just to get them paraded online for the world to see.
An even easier way to get your cute babies noticed is to simply upload a set of baby pictures in any baby photo sharing website. And mind you, we're talking about 1.9 billion surfers on the planet. That's a lot even when you consider that at any given time, almost half of them could be online.
It's all about the Photo
In a baby photo contest, the photo counts a lot. Yes, oftentimes, the quality of the picture can determine the winner. Between two lovely kids, the better quality shot gets the nod.
So put aside your cellphone camera, they can never really do justice to a good portrait shot. Buy or borrow a decent point-and-shoot camera with a large aperture and CMOS sensor that can take in better lighting conditions and detail for your cute baby. Imaging resolution helps but no amount of resolution will make your photo look good with a small CMOS sensor which is all you get in a cellphone camera.
Bear in mind that a cellphone camera is good only for sudden unplanned shots you want to immortalize. Getting your cute baby to enter a contest is a planned activity, so make sure you get the best image taken with the right gears.
You don't have to bring your baby to a professional photography studio, though that could be your only option if you don't have the time, the talent or the equipment to make a good still image. But this can be frustrating.
Getting you baby or kid to pose often becomes problematic and they could end up crying and you lose paid time with a professional photographer. The best time to take a shot of your kids is when they are at their natural poses, at play, lounging around or in their happiest moments, not in forced artificial poses. Baby photo contest judges can spot one and you could lose.
But whether it's a studio shot or a natural shot, having a plethora of baby pictures should allow you pick the best for a baby contest. You can even be democratic about it by asking friends and family to help you make the choice. Once you have that, you can start uploading to your targeted contest website or media sharing site.
