Q. My partner is a G1 and we're thinking of having a military wedding, what do we need to know?
A. If you're deployed within the country, your marriage as a member of the disciplined forces is pretty much similar to civilian marriage. You do not require special military permissions to do your wedding. You just get married in accordance to the laws of your state or the state where the marriage will take place and of course after securing your marriage license.

Once the marriage is formalised and your spouse in a civilian, then the married party who's an armed forces member will be required to submit a certified marriage certificate copy to the Personell HQ of his/her base and will receive a dependent Identification Card for the spouse, they'll also be required to enroll their spouse to the Defense Eligibility Enrolment Reporting System which qualifies them for benefits offered by the military like commissary and medical cover.
The one important factor to a military wedding is time. People with Permanent Change of Station orders who happen to get married before they move, can have their spouse added to their orders and the military will take care of the relocation expenses for the said spouse and their properties. But if you initially report to your station of assignment, then you'll have to foot the relocation of your spouse yourself.

A. The answer is yes and you'll have to contact the chaplain's office. Military bases have one or more assigned to them for religious services. Your wedding will be done at the base chapel presided over by the base chaplain, majority of base chaplains offer a number of wedding choices, denominational, civilian, military and even non-religious.
Q. Do base chaplains charge a fee for their services? if not will a donation be accepted?
A. Wedding conducted by base chaplains esp. military don't charge a fee. And by regulation they're prohibited from accepting donations directly. However, you're free to make a donation to the chaplain fund during normal worship service.
