1. You drink something along with your meal
WRONG! Don't do this... STOP. This is not good because the enzymes you naturally create in the mouth and esophagus while chewing are weakened and diluted. This means foods that were normally pre-digested within the mouth and esophagus are left half digested. When they hit the stomach, it's like a BOMB went off.
Less of the nutrients in the foods are absorbed and used by the body. The undigested foods clog up your digestive tract. Your digestive process becomes more burdened and inefficient.
This results in less ability to lose weight. Regardless of what diet you're on, the foods are not being utilized 100% to your benefit if you drink something with your meals.
What you need to do is simple... any liquids you drink should be 10 minutes before and or 10 minutes after your meal. Yes, I know it doesn't feel right, but it's the right thing to do for weight loss.
2. Make sure you have some sort of protein with any meal you eat
Protein is needed to slow down the absorption of simple sugars. This helps keep your blood sugar levels stable. Another factor in this is that protein is very metabolically active. This basically means it boosts your metabolism naturally whenever you have it.
So say you have something like spaghetti or whatever form of pasta. MAKE SURE you have something like meatballs with it or those carbs from the spaghetti will most likely be turned into body fat because of the blood sugar affect they have.
Lean meats and beans are the best choices for protein.
