If you are a working class man, how you choose to dress each morning reflects a lot on how seriously you take your job. People in turn respect you and take you seriously, which is the only way you can command authority. Creating an impression requires you to know all there is to know about a well dressed man. What should he/shouldnt he do? The following are some common fashions mistakes that men consciously or unconsciously commit and which should be avoided at all costs.
Sleeve lengths
Different garments have different ideal sleeve lengths. Shirt sleeves in particular should not go more than a half-inch past your wrist when you are standing with your arms to your side. When you buy your shirts, you can get ones that just button tightly around your wrist. Also, if available, buy shirts that have the neck and arm measurements rather than the usual S, M and L sizes. For the different brands available, find out the size of a specific brand that fits you perfectly and stick to that brand. Mens jackets must also have sleeves that fit perfectly. The sleeves should not go past your wrists when standing with your arms by your side. Ideally, they will fall a half-inch above. Most men believe that buying longer sleeves is a good idea. However, use your wrists as guides to the perfect length. This means that you should always fit before buying.
The Fit
Any suit jacket should fit your shoulders. Too often, men wear jackets that are far wider than their actual shoulders. So, how can you tell whether a jacket is too wide or too narrow? Buy from a store that has a mirror you can use to assess the fit. Do not rely on the word of the seller as their aim is to ensure they sell the clothes. Also, do not rely on your unaided eyes. The use of a mirror allows you to see exactly how the shoulders fall and how the sleeves flow down. To tell a narrow jacket, look in the mirror to see if there is any fabric bunching, or if there are ripples on your back. A wide jacket will have the shoulder seams fall off the shoulder. This will be noticeable to people who will think you borrowed a bigger persons clothes! Match up the jacket with a nice pair of shoes. Never wear rubber soled shoes to work, but opt for those with leather soles. Shoes with leather soles are more expensive, but they are yet another subtle sign that can convey a higher level of professionalism. If shoes like this are still a bit too costly for your budget, there are many brands of shoes that have some rubber and some leather on the bottom but have the same slim profile. Gone are the days when people didnt care how one dressed. Therefore, each day as you dress, ensure that there is no mistake you are making!
