Fabulous Silk Scarves and Shawls for Pregnant Women
Like so many other things, attitudes towards pregnant women have
, in most cases, changed enormously over the decades. Although it does still happen in some countries that they are hidden away until after the delivery, this tends to be the exception rather than the rule nowadays. Whether they are out shopping, socializing or at work, pregnant women today are very much on show and, of course, every bit as interested in looking their glowing best as every other woman.
One of the really notable changes in terms of maternity clothing which has come about in more recent years is the move away from those enormous tent dresses which, although they were probably designed to hide the bump, actually only succeeded in giving an impression of greater overall size and shapelessness. Nowadays, pregnant women, rather than trying to disguise their bumps, are putting them proudly on display and choosing clothing which accentuates them.
In France, one of the latest trends is to tie a fabulous long scarf around the bump, usually over the top of an outfit, and simply knot it to one side. The scarf makes a fabulous feature of nature's gift and a stunning personal and fashion statement, and of course choosing a gorgeous hand painted silk scarf provides moms-to-be with the look and feel of luxury and style. No matter whether you prefer to stick with comfy maternity jeans or want to dress up a smarter outfit, silk scarves represent a practical and cost-effective way to show off your bump with pride, and of course you still have a wonderful accessory to use long after baby is born.
Silk scarves, of course, come in all different shapes and sizes, and to achieve a great look in pregnancy you are going to need one which is long enough to wrap around your bump comfortably. Think about your favorite maternity clothes and choose a scarf which uses coordinating or contrasting colors. You will probably find that the colors you have chosen in pregnancy are much the same as those that you wore previously and so your fabulous silk scarves will match well with the rest of your wardrobe too.
Naturally, not all women want to make a feature of their bumps all of the time. Some, for example, prefer to dress more discreetly in the office or when attending evening functions and, if this is the case, then a long, flowing, hand-dyed silk shawl can be the ideal accessory for drawing attention away from the belly. The soft fabric does not cling like many manmade materials and the stunning hand painted designs draw the eye to areas that the wearer wants to be noticed.
If ever there was a time when a woman wants to feel pampered and special, it is during pregnancy. However they are worn, hand painted silk scarves and shawls are wearable works of art which exude class and luxury and are guaranteed to make any mom-to-be feel like the belle of the ball.
