A stomach ulcer is a very common disease; it affects almost a billion people worldwide every year. It is also known as peptic ulcer because it occurs due to the destruction of the muscular lining of the internals of the stomach or intestines due to hydro chloric acid which causes small holes and can lead to severe gastro intestinal infections.
There are many reasons for the formation for ulcers in a person's body but the major causes are unbalanced diet, use of pyretic medicines like aspirins and excessive smoking.
The most significant problem one encounters while taking the recuperative measures for ulcers is that it can relapse even when the person is under medication. It is because the only way for the Ulcer to heal is by maintaining a proper balanced diet.
A dietary chart for ulcer patient must contain adequate amount of liquids, fibers and antioxidants. It is very essential that the diet should be balanced. It should contain all the vitamins, proteins and minerals.
Ulcer patients should avoid spicy food as it aggravates symptoms. They should also consume alcohol and caffeine products with care as these have been shown to increase acidity and in turn the ulcers. A recent study has found that sodium also leads to mind ulcers and hence should be avoided or must be taken sparingly.
Balanced diet plays an important role in the well being of a person, for example; starting with Vitamin A, It is very important for ulcer patients as it helps in repairing the damaged tissues. Although its amount should be monitored as excess of it can also create toxic substances within the body. Vitamin A is found in carrots, apples, and all leafy vegetables. Then Vitamin C, It is responsible in increasing the immunity and accelerating the healing process of the area damaged due to the ulcers. It is found in all the citrus fruits like lemon and oranges. Proteins are the building blocks of the body hence their presence is indispensible they help in closing the wounds quickly by developing new cells. Proteins are found in pulses, milk and cheddar cheese and sunflower oils.
While recuperating the patient must decide on a diet plan that should contain three big meals and three snacks in between so as to avoid extended periods of hunger. The consumption of food should be done with a relaxed state of mind else the mind releases a large amount of adrenaline and it causes the ulcers to grow.
