Denver Broncos Tickets - Broncos Defeat Cowboys 17-10

Champ Bailey had eight tackles and made one key interception

, and the Denver Broncos defeated the Dallas Cowboys 17-10 in Week 4 of the NFL's regular season. Get Denver Broncos tickets and see Bailey pick off a pass and run down the sideline for a score.

Bailey's biggest play came with a second left when he blocked a potential tying touchdown pass from Dallas quarterback Tony Romo to Sam Hurd on fourth-and-goal from the 2-yard line. The Broncos blitzed Romo, causing the quarterback to quickly fire a pass across the middle to Hurd. Bailey reached around and knocked the pass away with his left hand at the last second, giving the Broncos their first 4-0 start since 2003. Broncos linebacker D.J. Williams said if it was his last play, he would have never thrown it to "one of the top corners in the league."

Romo stated that Denver's top-ranked defense was all over the field. The quarterback said, "It was a bang-bang play and the corner's always driving on the ball." Romo noted that if Bailey gets to the ball early, that's just part of the game. He acknowledged that those throws are going to be contested. Denver took the lead when Brandon Marshall caught a 51-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Orton with 1:46 left of the game. Cowboys' cornerback Terence Newman thought Marshall should have been called for offensive pass interference. Newman said he couldn't have played that play any better. He claimed that Marshall grabbed his jersey and threw him to the side. Marshall went up in the air and caught the ball off the top of Newman's helmet at the 25-yard line. The wide receiver avoided three tacklers on his way to the end zone.

In the second half, the Cowboys' first five drives ended in four punts and an interception by Bailey. Romo found Hurd for a 53-yard gain on fourth-and-three. The wide receiver was brought down on Denver's 20-yard line with only one minute left of the game. Dallas got the ball down to the two-yard line with nine seconds left. Romo spiked the ball on second-and-goal. On the next play, Bailey knocked away a high pass intended for Hurd before batting away the ball on the very last play of the game. Broncos safety Brian Dawkins said Dallas' plays surprised him. Romo kept throwing to Champ Bailey, challenging the future Hall of Famer. Even after Romo was picked off by Bailey, he continued to test the cornerback by throwing the ball to his side of the field.

Bailey snatched Romo's pass at the six in the third quarter. The confident cornerback proclaimed, "If you want to test me, put pressure on me, I'm with you." The Broncos were able to shut down the best running team in the league. The Cowboys gained only 74 yards on 25 carries. In the second half, Romo was 11-of-24 for 201 yards, no touchdowns and one interception. Romo was sacked five times, twice by linebacker Elvis Dumervil, who has eight sacks in his last three games. Williams stated that the Broncos won against a great team, proving to the naysayers that Denver can beat good offenses. Orton improved to 17-2 at home as a starter since joining the NFL in 2005.
