Creating Wedding Table Plans Means Taking Off The Rose Tinted Spectacles

Sometimes the biggest problem with creating wedding table plans is that the person

creating it is too close to the whole event to see some of the more obvious and significant issues. Because people who create wedding table plans usually include the Bride, the Groom or one of their close relatives, the entire event is viewed through rose tinted spectacles.

This might be all very sweet, and creating a plan may feel quite exciting. After all, it's a chance to really imagine in detail what the reception will really look like, and it can make the whole thing feel that little bit more real. But along with the excitement there has to be an element of harsh reality and a very practical approach, otherwise the entire thing could become very disappointing, and not just for you, but for your guests.

It's important to remember that your wedding reception lasts very much longer than the wedding. People usually get to choose their seats in the wedding ceremony, but as this lasts only around half an hour at most, any issues will be soon forgotten, and be of much less impact than issues at the reception.

Being forced to sit for many hours with people you really dislike, feel uncomfortable with, or have nothing in common with, or being forced to sit on the very opposite side of the room to the toilets when you have a condition that means you need to go rather more often than most people, or being a little hard of hearing, yet sitting so far away from the top table that you can't hear the speeches all adds up to a deeply disappointing day.

When it comes to creating wedding table plans the last thing you want to do is to end up causing disappointment, awkwardness or discomfort, yet this is very easy to achieve if you don't take the process very seriously, and look at it with reasonably clinical eyes rather than ones still dancing with the fairies.

One of the best ways of achieving this is to create wedding table plans in stages. Using a computer based tool is the most convenient way of doing this. Create your plan in the way you feel appropriate to begin with, and then leave it. A week or so later, come back to it, and view it with a more critical eye.

The time between reviews helps to distance you from your original thoughts and decisions, and if you do this enough it's much more likely that you'll find yourself becoming more and more practical and less and less whimsical, all of which is likely to result in much better wedding table plans, and much happier guests. It's one aspect of your wedding that needs a more practical, sensible approach. For almost everything else, feel free to be as whimsical as you like!
