Creating A Wedding Invitation

Creating A Wedding Invitation

Creating A Wedding Invitation

With times changing couples who are looking to get married now have creative license when it comes to creating wedding invitations. Gone are the traditional days of the bride's family hosting the wedding and therefore having the ultimate sat on wedding invitations.

With this in mind wedding couples can now be more creative when it comes to writing wedding invitations. As long as the required information is included couples are encouraged to personalize there invitation to suit there needs.

So what is the etiquette when it comes to writing a good wedding invitation? What information is required?:-

Hosts:-

The first thing that needs to be included is the hosts of the wedding party. Whether this is parents of the bride and groom or the bride and groom themselves, this is always the first bit of information included in the wedding invitation.

This is usually in the form of

Mr and Mrs Smith

Or

Joe And Mary Smith

Request

Next part of the wedding invitation comes the actual request. Again there is a certain etiquette that needs to be followed here. Depending on where you holding the ceremony will depend on the wording here.

If you holding the ceremony at a place of worship the wording is usually

Request the honour of your presence

If you're holding the ceremony at a secular location or at your home then the wording is slightly less formal

Request the pleasure of your company

Obviously if the couple of are hosting the wedding event the wording you use will encompass this.

The Happy Couple

The next part of the wedding invitation is the happy couple Again there is certain types of wedding etiquette here and the bride should always come first on the invitation. An example here would be

Of the marriage of there daughters

Norma Jeame

To

Richard Baker

Time And Location

Depending on whether you are following the traditional method or not the next part of a wedding invitation is the time and venue of the wedding. The traditional way of writing an invitation involves actually spelling the words out rather than placing them in a numerical way. For example:-

Thursday, the tenth of May

two thousand and eight

at one o'clock in the afternoon

However if you feel this is a bit much you can also write:-

10th May 2008

At 1pm

For the location it all depend on where the wedding will be held, however it is recommended to include the full address for example

Acme Registry office

Chigwell, London

SW1 1HL

RVSP

Traditionally a wedding invitation would include the words RVSP at the bottom, however, couples began to realise that this did not always get the required acknowledgement from guests and so it is popular to include a separate reply card.

This can include a range of details from just a space to filling in the guest's names and number of attendees in the group.

Wedding invitations are now included as part of the overall theme of the wedding and a range of designs, colours and styles can now be tailor made to your requirements. All the best on your big day.
